As a former NBA player and 13-year pro athlete, I find this advice refreshing. One, because I believe the purpose one finds in something they enjoy is almost an invisible pulling towards the thing even if feels hard to do at times. Like a tractor beam, you set your goal and then get immersed and pulled into the hardness of struggling to choose which daily habits, behaviors, and ultimately, identity, you wish to become.
Being honest but not hard on yourself about your progress and mostly process is the most important part of making faster progress. Then after that, maybe one thing is getting different perspectives on your skillset or performance, and learning new ways to improve your process (not just get to the mountain top) are the most important steps one can take.
Really good stuff Nick!
